Plug-in preamp for use with Professional XLR microphones and small mics. Finally, a great sounding, low noise, high quality preamp that runs on a battery! This preamp will give you professional quality amplification for your microphone. Other similar preamps available (sometimes for under $50) offer similar amplification, but not with this low level of noise and distortion. When looking for a mic preamp, it’s important to look closely at the frequency response, noise and distortion specifications. If you don’t see them, there is usually a good reason! All of these have one flaw……none actually put the mic element in the best possible place for the most realistic recording – within the Pinna (the part of the human ear that is visible – the folds on the outside). Even earbud Binaurals have the mic element outside the Pinna. Because everyone’s Pinna is unique, a recording made in your own ears will sound the most realistic.

These mics put the mic element right next to the ear canal, well within the Pinna. This results in the most realistic recording possible, from the perspective of the person wearing them. While recording, your hearing is not impaired, so you can enjoy the sound of the performance while making a very realistic recording. The cables terminate in a stereo 1/8″ (3.5mm) gold-plated miniplug. Black cable models with standard sensitivity have straight plugs, all others use right-angle plugs. There are two available microphone sensitivities. The standard sensitivity option is for use in situations that will range from fairly quiet to extremely loud sounds. The high sensitivity option if for use in situations that will range from extremely quiet to moderately loud sounds. Microphone cables are available in black or beige.
